Do you want a “Budget Planner” or a “Budgeting Program”?

Don't they both give you a budget? What's the difference?

A free budgeting planner is like a snapshot. The Personality Budgeting Program is like a movie that is constantly up to date. .

Budget Planners give you a snapshot from the past. Just like this picture of the little girl who has grown up and married.

A "Budget Planner" is out of date as soon as it is made.

Budget Planners are as useful as using this 20 year old picture to help find this person in a crowd today!

Don't ruin your lifestyle by trying to us a "Budget Planner" when what you need is a "Budgeting Program".

NO! NO! NO! NO! Budget Planners and Budgeting Programs are totally different animals!

Let me explain…

Budget Planners give you a snapshot of how your budget at a point time. They are like the pictures on the wall at home. They are a static record from the past. When the situation changes you have to do a new budget. The result is hours of rewriting and balancing figures.

Budget Planers (often spreadsheets or paper forms where you fill in the blanks) are very helpful when…

•  You are applying for a mortgage and you do a budget plan to show that you can make the repayments. You have no intention of using the budget on a daily basis so the limitations of the planner don't worry you.

•  You can use a budget plan to give yourself a rough idea of if you can achieve a goal.

Unfortunately “Budget Planners” are useless when it comes to trying to keep a budget…

  • They are difficult to update. Every time you want to see what is happening you need to redo the budget planner.
  • They do not show you where your cash-flow is up to and lead to embarrassing situations when you run out of money in the short term.
  • They are responsible for many people giving up on having a budget.

Budget Planners are usually very cheap or even given away freely. Unfortunately they end up costing you huge amounts of money and heartache. They simply aren't suitable for running a personal or household budget.

Just today a person contacted us saying they had found a Budget Planner to run their budget. The planner was free to download and simple to use. I was intrigued so I went and downloaded the planner they had found. Sure enough, the planner was simple to fill in. But then it ran into problems… You couldn't tell how much money you needed in the bank at any time. It looked good but failed to even meet the basic needs of a working budget.

This brings us to the second part of the question…

What is a “Budgeting Program”?

A budgeting program is the system you use to look after your money so that you can get on with enjoying your life.

If the “Budget Planner” is a snapshot, a “Budgeting Program” can be thought of as television news, always changing and needing to be up to date. Budgeting Programs (such as the Personality Budgeting Program) are very helpful when…

The Personality Budgeting Program is like a movie while a free budgeting planner is like a snapshot .

If a “Budget Planner” is a snapshot of what happened yesterday, a “Budgeting Program” can be thought of as television news, always changing and being updated.

  • You can't run a business using a budgeting program. Businesses work in pre tax money and need an accounting package.
